8 April 2009. – MAXIMUS Employment & Training awarded new “Job Search” Training contract
 
MAXIMUS Employment & Training is pleased to announce the start of a new Department of Work & Pensions “Job Search” training contract in Cornwall aimed at providing job search training and support services to 600 newly unemployed job seekers.  MAXIMUS will be delivering these courses across 8-10 regional centres in Cornwall and working very closely with advisors from local Job Centre Plus offices.  This specialised programme will help job seekers with a range of new skills, from understanding the current job market, CV preparation, modern job search techniques and facilities, presentation and interview techniques along with a range of supplementary resources to assist their job search quest.  The course will be delivered by experienced trainers along with professional Employment Consultants to provide advice and guide customers’ post course activities.  
 
With an internationally proven suite of over 30 vocational interpersonal and skills based training programmes we were able to adapt some of these materials into a very targeted 1 day programme to ensure maximum effect.  The introduction of these new intervention programmes recognises that many newly unemployed are not experienced in current job search techniques and for some this will be their first real experience of unemployment.
 
We look forward to partnering with Job Centre Plus across Cornwall to make this programme a success and ultimately assisting many job seekers in their quest to find new jobs.
