Ten years of Maximus Foundation UK giving back to local communities

This year marks an exciting milestone for Maximus Foundation UK – our tenth anniversary year as a charity. Since 2015, we’ve proudly awarded grants to more than 260 charities across the UK, providing more than £650,000 in funding to causes that matter most to Maximus colleagues and their communities.

The Maximus Foundation awards £2,500 grants to multiple charities each year, all of whom are nominated by Maximus colleagues – ensuring support goes to organisations that have personally impacted the lives of our colleagues and communities, creating meaningful local impact.

The model for nominations during each grant giving round is focused on local need and tangible community benefit. Our colleagues live and work in the communities we serve, and by donating grants to local and national causes, the Foundation can amplify their efforts and create lasting social value where it’s needed most.

The grants awarded by the Maximus Foundation have only been made possible by the amazing support from Maximus UK and Maximus colleagues. Colleagues across Maximus have the opportunity to participate in at least two fundraising events each year to raise money for the Foundation, with every penny raised match-funded by Maximus.

Supporting communities

When presenting these grants, one of the most valuable aspects of the Foundation’s work is the opportunity to meet the people behind the organisations we support. These conversations provide insight into the challenges they face and the difference a grant can make. Each cheque presentation is more than a financial contribution – it’s a chance to celebrate achievements, acknowledge colleagues’ efforts, and strengthen connections within the communities we serve.

The diversity of organisations supported in 2024 reflects the breadth of causes nominated by colleagues. National and local health charities such as the Huntington’s Disease Association, the only charity in England and Wales who support people affected by the disease, Bowel Cancer UK and local initiatives like Cots for Tots in Bristol, who provide specialist neonatal resources for families, have all benefitted from support.

The Foundation also addressed urgent social issues by supporting organisations including the Basics Foodbank in North Lanarkshire and Warming up the Homeless in Hastings, who used their grant to purchase food, tents, sleeping bags, and install a community defibrillator. Support extends to organisations providing end-of-life care including St Catherine’s Hospice, in Yorkshire which maintains its free services for people with life-limiting conditions, providing counselling, therapy, and palliative care.

As the Foundation marks its tenth anniversary, our mission remains unchanged: to support the causes that matter most to Maximus UK colleagues and to transform lives across the UK.

With every fundraiser, payroll contribution, and matched donation, the Foundation continues to build a legacy of social value and community support that will endure for years to come.
