Helping Londoners into work with the Maximus Expo

We recently hosted the first Maximus Expo at Stratford Old Town Hall on Thursday 28th April, giving hundreds of London residents the opportunity to access live vacancies, meet employers and training providers, and access one-to-one support.

Twenty employers, including Pizza Express, Metropolitan Police and Hilton Hotels, joined our teams to support participants looking to improve their skills and return to the workplace.

Kiki Ogunsanya, Police Sergeant for the Metropolitan Police, said:

“Events like this are extremely valuable as it enables us to tap into a diverse group of prospective employees, helping us to make the Metropolitan Police more representative of the communities we serve.

Being in a space like this where you have people of different ages, different backgrounds, different cultures and ethnicities is incredibly important.”

Participants were supported by teams from our seven different London employment contracts, providing a range of support to help them overcome their barriers and find a job that’s right for them.

Ashley Samuels, JCP Engagement Team Manager at Maximus UK, said:

“These events are really important to us as they help our participants get back into work. It gives them the confidence to speak to our teams, as well as our employers that we’re working closely with. We’re able to help a range of people with different needs as they improve their skills and return to the workplace.”

Hundreds of participants joined throughout the day, and were helped to set up interviews, access free training courses and gain an immediate qualification.

Ashleigh Cowley, Senior Account Manager at Maximus UK, said:

“Events like today have been an amazing addition to our recruitment process. The aim is to bring employers and participants together so we can work in unison to help as many people as we can back into work.

These events bring the life back into recruitment and it means that employers can interact with participants face-to-face. People have actually come out today with interview opportunities and work trials that have already been set up.”

Denise, one of the participants who attended the event, said:

“I’m really enjoying it. It’s been very productive and useful, and I’ve met quite a lot of potential employers.

I’d really recommend these events for anyone to come to and find work.”

The event was a great success and is the first of many more to come, as we continue to help thousands of people move forward with their lives.
