Supporting our communities: Maximus and Feast With Us

At Maximus UK, giving back as an organisation is at the heart of everything we do. We believe the greatest impact can be made when it’s done at a local level, which is why volunteering within the community forms such an integral part of our Social Value Aims.

Last month, London colleagues working for the Restart Scheme spent the day preparing meals for local residents with food poverty charity, Feast With Us.

The charity operates across several London boroughs, providing around 600 meals each week and saw demand for its services drastically increase by 300% during the three Covid-19 lockdowns.

Taking part in volunteer days like this allows our employees to really understand the issue, whilst gaining a greater understanding of how the charity addresses it.

Fatima Iqbal, Restart Social Value Executive in South & East London, was one of the volunteers who helped prepare meals during the day. She said:

“All volunteers were passionate about this cause and wanted to make an impact. We saw first-hand the hard work required to plan, cook and deliver meals to those in the local community who need this service most.”

Hannah Style, Founder and Chair of Feast With Us, expressed her gratitude to Maximus employees.

“Thanks to the amazing staff from Maximus who volunteered their time, we were able to support over 110 vulnerable and disadvantaged people with a nutritious meal. Their dedication meant that people didn’t have to go hungry.”

The day was a great success and is the first of many more to come for Maximus colleagues.
