The Challenge

Many victims of modern slavery face language barriers, have their identity documents taken, and are threatened with harm if they escape. These individuals are highly vulnerable and need exceptional care. We’ve delivered the Modern Slavery Victim Care service since 2011.

Our Solution

We created a 24/7 helpline for anyone suspecting they or others may be victims of modern slavery. Our team, extensively trained in handling complex situations, is skilled at recognising subtle signs of need. The Salvation Army and Maximus have built a reliable, transparent partnership, ensuring accountability in supporting vulnerable individuals. With efficient escalation pathways and access to technology, Maximus plays a key role in supporting the National Referral Mechanism and operating the vital 24/7/365 helpline for First Responders and potential victims.

“Having delivered the Modern Slavery Victim Care contract since 2011, we understand the importance of finding partners who can not only deliver a contractually compliant service but do so with empathy and a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for service users. Our Maximus team have demonstrated these attributes from the outset and based on our excellent working relationship, we look forward to building upon our partnership in the years ahead.”

Ann-Marie Douglas (Contract Director)
