Experience and expertise: With more than three decades’ experience in disability and employment, Gareth is one of the UK’s leading practitioners in the field. He works closely with government departments on policy and strategy.
Gareth joined Remploy in 1988 and progressed through the business in many different roles, culminating in his appointment as Chief Executive in May 2016.
Following the integration of Remploy into Maximus, Gareth became Programme Director for Maximus Employment, Skills and Disability services in January 2019.
His track record in the field, along with his own experience of mental health issues, make him passionate about improving the lives of disabled people and the long-term unemployed through sustainable employment.
Gareth has a Social Sciences degree from the University of Hertfordshire, specialising in Social Policy.
Hobbies and interests: Alongside spending time with his family, Gareth enjoys walking and cycling, as well as following a range of sports.
Other appointments or memberships: Gareth is Chair of Maximus’ Global Employment Services Community of Practice. He is a former Trustee of Skill: The National Bureau for Students with Disabilities and was a non-executive Director of the Employee Ownership Association.
