The Maximus Foundation UK has announced a record £50,000 in donations to help charities during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Foundation’s latest round of fundraising represents its largest charitable award to date, providing grants to twenty UK charities.

The charities were nominated by Maximus colleagues, and include organisations that deliver services to support healthcare workers, children, jobseekers and homeless people.

Since its formation in 2015, the Foundation has donated £320,000 to UK charities. Funding for the foundation is generated by Maximus colleagues and match-funded by Maximus UK.

Di Briggs, Chair of the Maximus Foundation UK, said:

“It’s currently a very challenging time for smaller charities across the UK, who find their services in greater demand while facing a sharp reduction in funding. So we’re delighted to be able to help more local charities than ever before, who all share our commitment to helping disadvantaged or vulnerable people move forward with their lives.”

Grant beneficiaries include The People’s Kitchen, a Newcastle-based charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people.

Maureen Armstrong, Fundraising Manager at The People’s Kitchen, said:

“We are very grateful to have been chosen by the Maximus Foundation. The money donated will help us continue to provide food, facilities and books, which will help the mental and physical wellbeing of our users, many of whom are isolating currently.”

Dr Paul Williams, Division President of Maximus UK said:

“The Maximus Foundation UK is all about supporting organisations that make a real difference in local communities and are close to our colleagues’ hearts. Given that this is Mental Health Awareness Week, I was particularly pleased to see that the Foundation has awarded a total of £10,000 to organisations focused on supporting people’s mental health during this stressful time.”
