And we’re able to make the biggest difference to local communities across the country by working in partnership with local organisations.
We recently held a job fair in Edmonton, North London, which let hundreds of Londoners meet employers and training providers — and access specialist support.
Members of our Community Partnership Network (CPN) joined local employers to help jobseekers upskill themselves and find new job opportunities.
The CPN connects hundreds of organisations nationwide, to ensure our participants are fully supported on their employment journey.
In London, more than 150 providers offer more than 500 interventions to help our participants move closer to employment.
Our Job Fair was attended by nearly 300 people, and was run in partnership with the Edmonton Green Job Centre.
Gary Rollins, Game Changer at the centre, explained the importance of this close relationship:
“The relationship between Maximus and JCP is more than a work relationship; we have a shared vision that means we all have the shared values and aims to change lives.
“Maximus provide great skills, knowledge and understanding, and have been instrumental in engaging with CPN partners to help participants.
Having Maximus on board is essential to us.”
Participants were supported by more than 30 different organisations on the day, providing a range of support to help them overcome their barriers.
Sean Talbot, Head of Community Partnerships in London, said:
“The Community Partnership Network offers a wraparound service for our participants; we work with both national providers as well as smaller providers that are specific to local communities.
“These smaller providers have the specialist knowledge of the communities they work in, in order to effectively help our participants back into work.
“The CPN is a joint effort between Maximus and our members, as we work together to deliver the best possible service for our participants, creating a lasting positive impact to communities across the country.”
Sunita Nahar, founder of Placing People Direct, summed up the benefits of job fairs:
“Maximus are linking organisations like mine directly with the public. It’s great to see the local community come together and it gives us the chance to network with other organisations – I love it!
“It is an honour to work with Maximus. We have been working together for the last few years and have produced great results, helping people into work all over London.”
Mandy, a Restart Scheme participant attending the fair, said:
“The event today has been great. There’s an amazing atmosphere and after meeting so many employers and organisations, I feel very optimistic that I will find work soon.”
Joint ventures like these are proving successful, with many more planned in boroughs throughout London.
By working collaboratively with Job Centres, local employers, CPN members and training providers, we are able to draw on each other’s strengths to deliver a well-rounded service to the community.
