We make a real difference in communities across the country and provide fully-funded recruitment services to more than 500 businesses nationally, matching job-ready, vetted participants to suitable vacancies.

Our Employability team are passionate about building strong relationships with employers, taking the time to fully understand each business, including the roles they have on offer, to design an inclusive and bespoke recruitment plan.

We’re working with businesses like BT Group plc to change the lives of people around the country.

In Wales, BT operate from three hybrid contact centres – Cardiff, Swansea, and Merthyr Tydfil. Working with Maximus, BT held a recruitment day for our participants, with several positions immediately available within their Cardiff site.

Nichola Phillips, Senior Account Manager at Maximus, explained the relationship: “Maximus understands how important it is to work in collaboration with employers, like BT, to be able to offer these fantastic opportunities to our participants. Recruitment days like this gives our participants an insight into the company, helps to build their confidence and gives them practical interview experience.”

Attending the recruitment event in Cardiff was Restart Scheme participant, Steven Spear. Prior to joining the scheme in May, Steven from Penarth, was unemployed for six years. He was keen to secure a customer service role but was lacking in confidence and motivation.

However, following six months of intensive support from his advisor, Steven attended BT’s recruitment day with renewed confidence and was offered a position on the day.

Steven said: “I received 100% support from Maximus and thanks to them, I’ve been offered a fantastic opportunity to work for a big well-known UK company.

“Recruitment days like this have more of a personal touch where the employer can see you as a person and you can be yourself, which helps with your confidence.”

We offer tailored support to all our participants to ensure they feel confident when they attend our recruitment events, giving them the best chance of success.

Karen Wilcox, Regional Account Manager at Maximus, said: “We offer local people support to find sustainable work through all our employability programmes. As part of this support, we provide our participants with insight to the employer and their business, a site visit, mock interviews and dress to impress sessions, ensuring they are fully prepared.”

Leanne Davis, a participant on our Job Entry: Targeted Support service in Cardiff, secured herself a Customer Advisor position with BT during the recruitment day.

After being made redundant in her previous position, Leanne was experiencing anxiety when she was referred to Maximus in August.

Receiving additional support for her mental health from members of our Community Partnership Network (CPN) helped Leanne rebuild her confidence ahead of the recruitment day.

Leanne explained: “The prospect of finding another job was daunting until I was referred to Maximus. I didn’t know this type of help was available to me, and Maximus has helped me a lot, including with my mental health, which gave me the confidence to come here.”

Recruitment events like these are a great opportunity for both the participant and the employer.

Katrina Evans, Talent Acquisition Lead at BT Group plc, explained: “Our relationship with Maximus keeps going from strength to strength and we will continue to work closely with them. I would absolutely recommend Maximus to any company that are looking to get the right people through their door.”
