Transforming lives in Tayside and Lanarkshire through Fair Start Scotland

As we mark our sixth year delivering the Fair Start Scotland service, we’re incredibly proud of our achievements in helping thousands of Scottish residents to transform their lives.

Since 2018, our dedicated teams have been working in partnership with the Scottish Government to deliver this vital employment and skills service across Tayside and Lanarkshire. Through 18 months of tailored, one-to-one support, we help those facing the greatest challenges accessing the labour market, including those with disabilities, long-term health conditions and criminal convictions.

We have a long history in Scotland – delivering employability support for more than 25 years and disability services for more than 75 years. Our teams continue to draw on this extensive expertise to directly support the Government’s central priorities, helping to tackle poverty, improve public services and build a growing economy.

Through continued collaboration, we’ve partnered with more than 350 leading employers across Scotland to help more than 5,000 participants to overcome their barriers and move into paid employment. Not only are we addressing economic inactivity by sourcing sustainable employment opportunities for our participants, but these relationships have allowed us to address skills shortages and contribute to growing the economy.

Our Community Partnership Network continues to grow, with more than 100 local organisations for us to collaborate with and meet the changing needs of the communities in which we serve. Working in partnership with public, private, and voluntary sector organisations is vital in enabling us to offer this specialised, expert support for our participants – ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.

Our success is driven by our ability to operate at scale, whilst utilising our deep-rooted connections to deliver localised support that addresses the challenges caused by the changing labour market and meets the needs of communities.

Following the recent extension of Fair Start Scotland service, we will be continuing to offer employment and skills support to people across Scotland for a further 12 months. We remain committed to working alongside the Scottish Government to build a better future for our participants, and a stronger and more resilient Scotland for all.
